April was a month full of gardens coming alive, chickens morphing from bundles of fluff into feathered friends, and watching lots of hard work from the last year come to fruition. We made time to rest, learn, read, create, play, and grow.

Our seedlings took off at an alarming rate and we are now eating fresh greens every day that we started inside in January. Lettuce, kale, spinach, rainbow chard, snap peas, and beans are replenishing almost over night - I may have misjudged how many seeds to start so our neighbors are also able to enjoy the bounty!

We finally moved our chickens outside as their pin feathers were fully grown and the temperatures were starting to stay in the fifties at night. The coop and run that my dad built are amazing, and the chicklets are so happy being able to run around and forage outside. One of my favorite rituals has become waking up with the sun (still a bit begrudgingly every once in a while) and walking out to the coop to let the chickens out in the mornings. They too have been enjoying a lot of treats from the garden since we have such a surplus! Our girls are just shy of 14 weeks so I'm hoping we will see some eggs this summer!

The kiddos are wrapping up at school and looking forward to summer adventures. We have lots of camps and trips planned for this summer so it's going to be a lot of fun. Now we we just have to make it through this ned of year gauntlet (iykyk)!
