I'm not going to lie, trying to come up with thirteen things to be thankful for the day after ANOTHER mass school shooting, in a country that continues to feel more and more like a cesspool of eternal darkness, was not easy.
And yet, I had the privilege of walking my healthy children to school. I had the privilege of another mama friend taking my son to the park so I could attend the PTA meeting. I had the privilege of sitting amongst my fellow parents and community members for an hour and come up with ways to better serve our school and community at large.
There are glimmers in the darkness.
There are good people fighting for change.
There is always a way forward.
Thirteen Things I am Thankful For This Week:
A strong, kind, inclusive community.
The privilege and ability to speak out against things that are wrong.
My healthy, happy, safe children.
Public libraries and parks!
Our amazing neighborhood public Montessori school (that we can walk to!)
Living near my parents, and seeing them almost every day.
Parent friends who understand the ups and downs, and are always there for support.
FaceTime, to stay connected with friends around the world in time where there is so much loneliness and disconnect.
Granny Hobbies; tending my chickens, reading, experimenting in my garden, learning new sour dough recipes.
My job; helping people find a house and then getting to see it after they have made it into a HOME for their families.
Fresh flowers, specifically tulips which I have always found to be so unique and weird and beautiful.
My husband, for being my best friend and always supporting my harebrained ideas with muted enthusiasm and then fully jumping on board once he realizes I was right all along
Our home.
I hope this post finds you well and that you are able to take a breath, a moment - and then continue on with a little bit more hope in your heart.
